Think Like an Investigator
The Research Plan Is the Analytical Contract
The research plan tells us what the analysis should do; the code tells the computer how to do it.

What is the analysis supposed to do?
How can an investigator make the intended analysis explicit before asking code to implement it? A research specification states the question, population, data, variables, estimand, method, checks, and interpretation boundaries. Calling it a contract means it is the reference point for judging implementation—not that it can never change.
